POSITION SPECIFICATION

POSITION TITLE: Forming Production Manager

REPORTING TO: General Manager

LOCATION: Fayetteville Arkansas.

EMPLOYER: Superior Industries is a publicly-traded manufacturer with operations and business ventures in the United States, Mexico, and India. Superior is a producer of cast and flow form OEM aluminum wheels for the automotive sector. SCOPE: The Forming Production Manager position will serve as the focal point for coordinating production and support departments to ensure smooth and effective operations. This position will work with respective department leaders to maximize production and improve operations.

RESPONSIBILITY:
• Provide support to the General Manager by overseeing the daily production operations to ensure production goals are met through effective scheduling and operation of equipment.

• Continually develop and improve communications between departments by working as a team and emphasizing metrics while driving results.

• Under the guidance of the G M the Production Manager will establish controls that drive quality and equipment utilization which result in less labor, reduced scrap, reduced rework and more robust production yield.

• The Forming Production Manager will partner with all departments to review and establish corrective action to address scrap, labor and rework opportunities.

Specific challenges over the next three months:
• Audit all production areas with a focus on improving existing process controls, establishing procedures where required and standardizing as warranted that result in lower operating expense.

• Establish position as the functional expert and leader in production management by leading cost reduction initiatives with emphasis on improved equipment utilization in all areas of production.

• Work with corporate support departments to implement specific business initiatives of lowering scrap /rework rates & energy consumption through enhanced process controls new methodologies, standardization and, where warranted, specific equipment upgrades.

BACKGROUND
REQUIRED: The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in a Low Pressure die casting / CNC machining / electrostatic finishing operation with progressive responsibility for change management, establishment of sound process controls, root cause investigation, internal audits, and successful implementation of corrective action, and the ability to effectively motive and lead others.

The Ideal candidate should have a wide body of knowledge and experience working with low pressure aluminum die casting, heat treatment of aluminum alloys, quench/temper hardening of safety critical automotive parts and a working knowledge of power and liquid painting operations. Additional experience required in SPC, Failure Analysis, PPAP, FMEA, is desirable.

EDUCATION
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field or a combination degree and equivalent experience with a proven track record of accomplishment working in a fast paced manufacturing environment. An MBA would be a plus. Proficiency with the Spanish language is highly desirable.
